DAYNE HAMILTON

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO

Dayne Hamilton is no stranger to dance. She began her training at age two and won pageants for her solo performances and worked equally effective in small and large groups during her dance career. Her passion for dance is undeniable whether on stage, or in the capacity of a student or teacher. Her work ethic is highly recognized and she has managed to motivate all her students to work to their full potential. She has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theatre, hip hop, contemporary and acrobatics. In 2014, Dayne graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, Performance Dance. She has had several opportunities to perform with modern dance companies in Toronto since her graduation. She has worked with esteemed educators and choreographers such as Marie Chouinard, Robert Glumbek, Allen Kaeja, Vicki St. Denis, Nadia Potts, and Roberto Campanella.  In 2014 she was welcomed as a full time teacher at one of the most prestigious studios in Brampton and has contributed towards the studios success in winning studio of the year twice. Her innovative teaching techniques has inspired her students to achieve their goals leading them to win overall awards, and her choreography has been acknowledged for several numbers whether in a solo or group performances.

DEVON PERRI

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

Devon is from Toronto and has been since a young age. He has had the opportunity in choreographing for such projects as The Toronto Film Festival as well the tap scenes in the movies; Honey, Universal Pictures and Save The Last Dance 2 MTV.

His music video credits include; Michael Jackson-Slave To The Rhythm, Chris Brown-New Flame, Chris Brown-Loyal, Chris Brown-Turn Up The Music, NeYo-Beautiful Monster, David Guetta+Chris Brown-I Can Only Imagine, Timbaland-Cop That Disc, Snoop+Wiz-Young,Wild n’ Free, BoA-Energetic, K-OS-Superstar + Crab Bucket, Mark Ballas-Get My Name, Yasmeen-Blue Jeans and many more. Devon has also performed on TV and stage with artists such as; the Billboard Awards w/ Michael Jackson hologram, the VMA’s w/ Justin Timberlake, the V.M.A.’s, Billboard Awards, BET Awards, DWTS and Carpe Diem Tour w/ Chris Brown, So You Think You Can Dance w/ Ne-Yo, American Idol w/ Travis Garland and Stefano Langone, DWTS w/ Mark Ballas, DWTS w/ Macy’s All-Stars, DWTS w/ Jason Derulo, Korean Pop Star BoA and many more. He has also appeared in commercials for Marshall’s, Cali-Max, and Milk-Canada.  He now resides in Chicago and is still teaching at studios and workshops across Canada, U.S. and Europe.

ROSEMARIE STEA

TORONTO, ONTARIO

Rosemarie is a Toronto-based dance artist, teacher and award-winning choreographer. Having been taught by leading industry educators and professionals across Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe, Rosemarie holds a Master of Arts Degree with Distinction in Contemporary Dance from the University of Kent in England. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance with the EDge Company of the London Contemporary Dance School in London, England and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University in Theatre Performance: Dance.
Rosemarie is currently Artistic Manager at The Maple Academy of Dance. Her high acclaim awards her numerous Overall high-scoring routines, teacher recognition, choreography and top teacher awards year after year for her innovative work and students’ exceptional technique. She is also on faculty at The Carret Dance Conservatory where she teaches for both the Classical Ballet and Contemporary Divisions. Her involvement in education also includes teaching for educational institutes, private dance studios and pre-professional programs across Canada including the Peel and York District School boards, The School of Cadence Ballet, the Toronto Dance Teacher Expo and Dance Attack Workshops. Additionally, Rosemarie has embarked on homeschooling primary-level students in dance, fitness, nutrition and dance history. As a freelance artist, Rosemarie has choreographed for musical ensembles, independent dance films, professional photo shoots and is a highly sought after adjudicator for various regional and national dance competitions throughout Canada.

First and foremost, thank you for your continued support and patience.  It is so incredible to be a part of an amazing community that is so committed to dance and supporting each other.  

 

As we navigate into 2021, Terpsichore Dance Celebration is fully committed to bringing you the competition that you expect, deserve and MORE!  Our number one priority is the health and safety of our dance families.

 

After running a 1,000 entry virtual competition in April with hundreds of dancers from across Canada we are pleased to offer another virtual event this August!  If you missed our April event be sure to check out the awards shows here.  We are so grateful to have received countless emails, calls and social media messages from dancers, parents, and studio directors, stating how thrilled they were with our virtual event.  

We are excited to introduce the one of a kind TERPSICHORE VIRTUAL DANCE CELEBRATION August 4-8, 2021 at discounted rates.  This competition will be open to all soloists, duets, trios, small groups, large groups, and lines.  We will be offering everything our spectacular live events have offered in the past AND MORE, highlights include:

 

  • DRC video judge (critiques from our 3 amazing judges)

  • Online registration through Dance Bug

  • Online video uploads

  • SAME awards – including overalls in Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior, 12 & Under Competitive, 13 & Over Competitive, Novice, 12 & Under Part-Time, and 13 & Over Part-Time divisions

  • The Grand Awards

  • Regional Champions

  • SAME cash prizes

  • SAME trophies, medals, frames, boards/banners

  • Terpsichore Higher Education Scholarship (any dancer can apply to receive $1000.00 toward their post-secondary education)

(Please note: in the unlikely event that Flying Solo Virtual Competition & Convention does not proceed, all "VIRTUAL" entry fees will be refunded in the same method of payment in which they were received)

  • Ages are determined as of December 31, 2020

  • Top dancers in each division will be announced

  • Solo, Duet & Trio dancers receive custom designed medallions 

  • Group dancers will receive ribbons and pins

  • Special awards will be given at each adjudication.  These are not based on marks and are at the judges' discretion. 

 

VIDEO SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must record video submission using one of the following devices:

    • iPhone 8 or better (filmed in landscape)

    • Samsung 10 or better (filmed in landscape)

    • DSLR camera

  • All videos must be submitted via DanceBUG online registration

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • All routines will be adjudicated and personal critiques will be provided

  • Adjudication critiques will be available on DanceBUG after the Awards Shows

  • Must register and submit video via DanceBUG

  • Registration Deadline: Sunday, June 20

  • Costumes, hair and makeup is recommended but not mandatory

  • Dancers are welcome to compete with the same solo at in-person events in 2021, 2022 and/or beyond

  • This will not affect any dancers' Novice status at in-person events

  • Dates and times are subject to change, follow us on Instagram (@TerpsichoreCanada) for updates

  • Space is limited and entries are accepted on a first come first served basis.  Entries will only be confirmed when payment is received.

  • Terpsichore Dance Celebration Inc. reserves the right to lengthen, shorten or cancel any event 
  • CASH AWARDS will be awarded by cheque made out to the studios only
  • Trophies, medals, frames, banners/boards will be sent directly to studios
  • ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND NON-NEGOTIABLE 
  • Terpsichore Dance Celebration Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any videos that are not family friendly, please ensure you are using clean versions of songs, offensive language will not be tolerated. 
  • In the unlikely event that Terpsichore Virtual Dance Celebration does not proceed, all "VIRTUAL" entry fees will be refunded in the same method of payment in which they were received
  • Terpsichore Dance Celebration Inc. and all its affiliates have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for bullying of any kind.  Terpsichore prides itself on providing a safe space and any threats to the safety of our space will be removed.  Terpsichore reserves the right to disqualify any dancer that is contributing to an unsafe environment.  
  • Upon registration it is agreed and acknowledged that the risks of participation are fully understood and that Terpsichore Dance Celebration Inc., which includes Terpsichore Dance Celebration, Flying Solo, UDC University Dance Challenge, Dance Starz Challenge, Flying Solo Virtual Competition & Convention and any of their workshop/convention classes, are hereby released from any liability whatsoever arising from claims for damages or injuries while participating in the aforementioned events.

  • Studios may pay by cheque, e-transfer, or credit card

  • All credit card transactions are charged a 2.99% service fee

  • Studios please make cheques payable to TERPSICHORE DANCE CELEBRATION INC. and/or e-transfers to info@terpsichore.ca 

  • NSF FEE of $45.00 will be charged for all NSF cheques

  • Prices do not include tax, 13% HST will be added to all registrations at checkout
